    Director's Notes:

The play will cover the duration of the Passion week which include four days that a lamb is being observed for any blemishes. A lamb had to be spotless before it could be used as a sacrificial lamb. This started in Egypt when the Lord used Moses to lead his people out of bondage. So, the day Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey was the same day a lamb was selected from the herd and started its four-day trial. Interestingly, this day was also the beginning of Jesus’ trials and tests. He was in the trial in the garden of Gethsemane where he was arrested, then brought before the Sanhedrin at night where witnesses were hired to lie about him. Being brought to trial before the Sanhedrin at night was against Jewish law. The next day he was paraded before Pilate. Then he was brought before Herod and then back to Pilate where Pilate said, “I find no fault in him.” This is important, as there couldn’t be any fault in the Passover lamb either. Therefore, Jesus was referred to as the Lamb slain from foundation of the world. The Passover was the same day the lamb was sacrificed for the sins of Israel and Jesus was crucified for the sins of the world. Jesus knew this was going to happen and had his last supper with the disciples the evening before.

We believe your audience will enjoy learning some of the parallels between the Lord Jesus and the Passover lamb.
