"I'm in the Garage!" is a witty comedy sketch that perfectly captures a man avoiding his family by pretending to be busy working while his loved ones call out to him with various requests. This lighthearted performance is an excellent addition to Father's Day celebrations, banquets, or sermon setups, offering both humor and relatable family dynamics. • Performance time: 8 minutes

    Casting:

    • One man onstage dressed to work on home projects.
    • Wife, son and daughter are offstage and not seen.

Setting: A man is sitting comfortably in his garage. There needs to be a tool chest nearby with a scattering of tools. An electric drill is plugged into a practical(*). He can be in an old beat up sofa, a director's chair or just a simple, ugly kitchen chair. He needs something to put his feet up on – an old tire, a fishing gearbox, whatever may be found in a garage. A skateboard is visible under the chair. A flat is behind him painted to look like the back wall of the garage. Something is next to him to hold his paper, books, his soda, etc. A remote control garage door opener is on this stand. The other family members are never seen. They can be behind the flats and speaking live or you could even record them!
