    Cast of Characters:

    The Men:

    1. Herod the Great: A man possessed with the idea that people are trying to take over his position. He sees spies behind every curtain. The truth is he is probably right!
    2. Archelaus, Herod’s Son: The mirror image of his father. Loves the conspiracies,. A big bully.
    3. Anthony, Captain of the Guard: A sane voice, but will do whatever Herod asks, as that is his job. Flirts a bit, but not too seriously on his part.
    4. Caius: Roman Guard
    5. Laramaus: Roman Guard
    6. Ananias:Jewish Council Member. Knows the law, but is cowed by Herod.
    7. Archemedes: Court Wizard. A sly and bit of a wacko individual.
    8. Polonius: A Roman Politician. Someone who would like to see Herod gone.
    9. Ghesbar: A Magi. Physically the most dominate. A balance between Bartholomew’s ‘half-full’ and Achmed’s ‘half-empty’ attitudes.
    10. Bartholomew: A Magi. Kind and gentle. Sees little evil in anyone.
    11. Joseph: Gentle and shy.
    12. Jesus (As a child): If a 1½ to 2 year old cannot be found who will be calm on stage, bring out a small bed with a sleeping child doll.
    13. Jesus (On the Throne)
    14. Angel of the Lord: Can be male or Female

    The Women

    1. Mariamne: Herod’s Wife. Haughty, proud. Very selfish.
    2. Julia: Herod’s Daughter. A teenager or young women. Flirts with Anthony, but is a bit too young for him.
    3. Ashnah: Servant Girl. Open eyed.
    4. Kenah: Servant Girl. Curious, sneaky
    5. Debir: Servant Girl. Insolent
    6. Rachelle: Ghesbar’ Wife. Strong willed.
    7. Alia: Achmed’s Wife. Loud, brassy and is not afraid to get in Achmed’s face
    8. Mary: Gentle, loving.
    9. Anna: Mary’s friend. Strong, full of life.

    The Set:

    There are three main locations

    • Herod's Throne room
    • A wayside oasis that the Magi encamped
    • The house where Mary and Joseph stayed after leaving the Inn/Manger
    • At the end we see the White Throne Judgement seat. We used Herod's throne and 'Heavenized' it!

    There is a full prop and set list in the script.
